Charity Ball

The Annual Golden Charity Ball

Date: 4 November 2005

Steve's annual Charity Ball has again exceeded expectations and raised thousands of pounds for children in the UK.

Auction lots, including a signed photograph of the original Rat Pack and the opportunity to join Steve for a round of golf at the Belfry, helped to amass over £90,000 in aid of Steve's Charitable Trust for children.

In the silent auction, the opportunity to run alongside Steve in the Marathon brought forward a particularly ambitious gentlemen wanting to go the distance for the first time. If he could run alongside Steve, Admiral Insurance would donate £10,000 to the evening's total. Barclays Bank swiftly raised the bid resulting in a donation of £11,614 for a single lot.

Held at the Cafe Royal in Piccadilly, the Ball was hosted by Sir Steve and his wife, Lady Ann Redgrave who were both delighted with the unquestionable success of the evening.

"So much work goes on behind the scenes to make this event a success." Steve commented, "I am immensely grateful to Mel and the committee who have worked tirelesly to make sure every detail has been attended to. The evening has been enjoyed by so many and raising over £90,000 for children is a fantastic achievement that makes it all worth it."

As well as thanking his PA, Steve gave a special mention to Martin Goebbels and Colin Dyer for their help in orchestrating the evening.

The event has now set a standard and everyone is looking forward to next year's Charity Ball. If this year is anything to go by, it will be an evening to remember for the many children who benefit throughout the UK!
