Rowing, Tennis and Golf...

Date: 9 July 2006

Steve lets you in on a very busy week in his sporting calendar

Last week was too hot for being suited and booted... but it was also the week of the Henley Royal Regatta so the dress code was a foregone conclusion.

I did manage to take time out to see some quality tennis at Wimbledon on Saturday and Monday. I caught part of Federer's route to the final as he made a very difficult task look sublimely easy.

Moving on from rowing and tennis, next week is a golf week. It is Liam Botham's testimonial year after he retired due to injury so Monday will see me play my part in his testimonial on the golf course. Tuesday is a charity golf day at the Oxfordshire at Thame and Wednesday is a third day of golf at The Belfrey as I fulfil one of the charity commitments made to raise money at this year's London Marathon.

With so much sport around, it seems that Sport Relief is timed to perfection this year. Talking of which, I would like to congratualate David Walliams on his superb achievement in swimming the English Channel. Inspirational.
