The Sefton Triathlon
Date: 10 October 2006
Olympians Steve Parry (Swimmer), Steve Cummings (Cyclist) and Steve Smith (High Jump) were joined by over 1000 competitors at this year's Sefton Triathlon in Liverpool.
Steve was there to cheer everyone on but was somewhat relieved that he was unable to compete due to a diary clash with the last World Cup Race in Lucerne.
Raising over £25,000 for charity, including the Steve Redgrave Trust and the British Heart Foundation, the event continues to grow year on year.
"This year's triathlon was a great success," commented Steve. "It looks like it's going to be a major event in the UK sporting calendar which is good news for both the competitors and the charities that benefit!"
Last yearıs winner Phil Ellison again won the individual male category. His time of 23 mins 18 secs an improvement of over 2 minutes while this years top placed female was Celia-Anne Whelan, finishing in 25 mins 42 secs.
